Terms of Use

These terms of use apply to the use of LensFinder.org, in particular to error reports and lens suggestions sent through the forms on the website. LensFinder.org is free to use and requires no registration.

1. Provider and scope

The provider is Hanseatic Bits UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co. KG, Zeissstraße 1, 49733 Haren (Ems), Germany (see imprint). LensFinder.org is a database of technical data on camera lenses, plus articles on new releases and guides. There are no user accounts. You can send error reports and suggestions through the forms on the website without registering.

2. Content of the database

We compile the technical data from manufacturer specifications, together with hints from submissions that we check against manufacturer sources. We give no warranty that the data is correct, complete or up to date. Manufacturers change their specifications, and data can differ between mounts. The pages are not reviews and not purchase advice. There is no right to have a lens added or kept in the database.

Many lens pages contain affiliate links to Amazon. If you buy through such a link, we receive a commission, and the price does not change for you. This has no influence on the data and texts.

You can report errors with "Report an error" on the lens page or by email to [email protected]. We check every report and correct data that is demonstrably wrong.

3. Error reports and suggestions

When you submit something, you agree

  • to provide only truthful and non-misleading information,
  • not to submit unlawful, offensive or harmful content and not to infringe the rights of third parties,
  • not to enter any personal data, neither your own nor that of other people.

In particular, the following is not allowed:

  • spam, advertising and automated mass submissions,
  • links to malware or phishing pages,
  • automated mass retrieval that impairs the operation of the website.

4. Rights to submissions

By submitting, you grant Hanseatic Bits UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co. KG a simple, unlimited in time and territory, royalty-free right to store, check, edit, translate and publish your submission on LensFinder.org, also in modified form and together with our own content. You confirm that you are entitled to make the submission. There is no right to publication or to being named as the source. Names, trademarks and product images of the manufacturers belong to their respective owners.

You can report infringements to [email protected]. Helpful are the exact address of the content concerned, proof of your rights and contact details for questions.

5. Our own content

The texts, the compilation of data and the design of the website are protected by copyright and database rights (see imprint). You may quote individual data points and link to our pages. Systematically extracting or copying substantial parts of the database is not allowed without our consent.

6. Availability

The service is free. There is no right to uninterrupted availability. We may change or remove content and change or discontinue the service.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we have fraudulently concealed a defect or given a guarantee. For slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual obligation, liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Otherwise we are not liable for slight negligence. This also applies to the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the data in the database.

The operators of linked websites, for example manufacturers and retailers, are responsible for their content.

8. Changes and measures against violations

We may change these terms with effect for the future if there is a valid reason, for example a change in the law or new features. Submissions are governed by the version published at the time of submission. We may reject or delete submissions that violate these terms and restrict access to the forms.

9. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you have your habitual residence remain unaffected. The place of jurisdiction is, where permitted, the provider's registered office.
