Focusing

From infinity down to 0.5 m, autofocus works as usual. Between 0.5 m and 1:1 magnification, you set approximate focus with the focus ring and then hold the Macro Range AF button so the lens refines focus within a narrow range around that point. Laowa stresses that this is not full-range autofocus; the lens refines focus where you placed it. According to Laowa, this suits focus stacking Laowa product page.

Optics and build

Laowa uses an apochromatic (APO) optical design that, according to the manufacturer, virtually eliminates color fringing and chromatic aberration. The housing is made of metal and, per the manufacturer, is weather-resistant against moisture and dust Laowa product page.
