Overview
The Brightin Star MF 11mm F2.8 II Full Frame Fisheye is a manual focus diagonal fisheye for full-frame mirrorless cameras, offered for Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z and Leica L. Brightin Star quotes an angle of view of 182 degrees. As the name says, it is the second generation of the maker's 11mm fisheye, announced in April 2026. It is aimed at landscape, architecture, astrophotography and creative shooters who want the strong curvature of a fisheye on a full-frame budget.
Optical design
According to Brightin Star the lens has 11 elements in 6 groups, including 4 high-refractive (HR) and 2 extra-low dispersion (ED) elements. The aperture runs from F2.8 to F22 with 8 blades that form 8-point sunstars, and an IMC coating is used for contrast and flare. The minimum focus distance is 0.17 m. The lens has no front filter thread.
Focusing and handling
Both focus and aperture are manual. Brightin Star describes the aperture ring as de-clicked, which suits smooth exposure changes in video. With a fisheye at this focal length, depth of field is generous, so zone focusing on the distance scale works well for quick shooting. The lens has no autofocus and no stabilizer.
Build and size
The body is made of aluminum alloy. The weight depends on the mount: 550 g for Sony E, 553 g for Leica L, 559 g for Canon RF and 575 g for Nikon Z. The diameter is about 71 mm and the length 81 to 85 mm.
Where it fits
Earlier Brightin Star 11mm lenses are not in the database. Among rival full-frame fisheyes, the AstrHori 12mm f/2.8 Fisheye covers the same four mounts, and the 7artisans Photoelectric 10mm f/2.8 Fisheye and its Mark II version are close alternatives. The Samyang / Rokinon 12mm F2.8 ED AS NCS Fisheye is an older design for Sony E, Canon EF and Nikon F.
Pros and cons
Pros
- 182 degree angle of view on full frame
- Fast F2.8 aperture for night skies
- Close focus at 0.17 m
- All-aluminum body, four mounts
Cons
- Manual focus only
- 550 to 575 g is heavy for a fisheye on mirrorless
- No front filter thread
Verdict
The Brightin Star MF 11mm F2.8 II Full Frame Fisheye gives a very wide, fast and affordable fisheye for four full-frame mounts. Its strengths are the aperture and the close focusing distance. Weight and manual operation are the trade-offs to accept.
