Vistilen AF 55mm F1.4

The Vistilen AF 55mm F1.4 is an autofocus portrait lens for APS-C cameras with Canon RF mount. Vistilen calls the mount EFR and lists Canon EOS R bodies as compatible. On APS-C the 55mm focal length corresponds to roughly 88mm on full frame, a classic portrait view, and the F1.4 aperture gives strong background separation. Vistilen links its sharpness to that of the full-frame AF 85mm F1.4, and the lens appeared in a March 2026 leak of the RF lineup before its June 2026 listing.

Optical design

According to Vistilen, the lens has 11 elements in 8 groups and a diaphragm with 9 blades. The minimum focus distance is 0.61 m. On an APS-C body the horizontal angle of view is 23.4 degrees. Vistilen describes soft defocus and good resolution even wide open, which are manufacturer claims, and does not name special glass types.

Autofocus and handling

A closed-loop stepper motor system controls the autofocus, which Vistilen describes as quick, quiet and smooth in start and stop movements, aimed at portraits and video. The lens supports eye and face detection autofocus. The product page shows no aperture ring and no custom buttons.

Build and size

The filter thread is 55 mm. The lens is 66.5 mm in diameter and 78 mm long. The specification table gives 292 g, while the text of the page says about 289 g. The barrel is made of a high-polymer material, and the mount has a dust- and moisture-resistant sealing gasket, according to Vistilen. This is a seal at the mount only and not a claim of full weather sealing.

Where it fits

For portraits on APS-C with Canon RF the Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary is the closest alternative with a similar focal length and the same maximum aperture. Within the Vistilen range the AF 56mm F1.7 is the lighter and slower option at 190 g, while the AF 33mm F1.4 covers the normal focal length.
