Overview
The SG-image AF 35mm F2.2 is an ultra-compact autofocus pancake-style prime for full frame mirrorless cameras. SG-image lists it for Sony E, Nikon Z and Leica L and sells it in black, silver and a Classical Edition with retro styling, as part of its EZICARI series, a name derived from easy carry. The company pitches it as a discreet street and travel lens with a 66 degree angle of view, which is the classic 35mm perspective.
Optical design
According to SG-image the lens has 7 elements in 5 groups. The diaphragm has 9 blades and runs from F2.2 to F16, and there is no aperture ring. The minimum focus distance is 0.35 m with a maximum magnification of 1:7.7. SG-image calls the lens a multi-purpose workhorse for all genres, which is marketing language. No special glass types are named.
Autofocus and handling
The lens is autofocus, and the aperture is controlled from the camera because the spec sheet lists no aperture ring. SG-image's Amazon listings sell a matching metal square hood separately, and the shop offers versions with and without it. The silver and Classical Edition variants differ in styling, with polished silver trim and a knurled focus ring on the CE version, according to the shop.
Build and size
The barrel is all metal according to the manufacturer. The lens weighs about 163 g and measures 69 mm in diameter and 36.2 mm in length. The filter thread is 52 mm. SG-image describes it as one of the most portable full frame lenses in its class. The spec sheet applies to the E, Z and L versions together, and the dimensions may differ slightly by mount.
Where it fits
Among the lenses in the database, the Samyang AF 35mm F2.8 FE for Sony E is a small autofocus alternative, and Sigma's 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary for Sony E and the Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN for Leica L are larger and more expensive options. The 7artisans Photoelectric 35mm f/5.6 Pancake (Leica L, Sony E, Nikon Z) is another pancake-style 35 but much slower at f/5.6. SG-image also unveiled a Fujifilm X version in 2026, which is not yet sold in its shop.
