Overview

The Panasonic Lumix S 20mm F2.5 is a compact wide-angle prime for L-Mount cameras with a full frame sensor. Panasonic announced it in September 2026, with shipping expected from October 2026. The lens is available in black or silver. Panasonic describes the 20 mm focal length as a natural ultra-wide perspective that is not excessively dramatic, and aims the lens at travel, everyday and video work.

Optical design

The lens has 11 elements in 9 groups, including three aspherical elements and three ED elements. Panasonic says the aspherical elements keep the image sharp from center to edge and suppress aberrations. The diaphragm has 7 blades and forms a circular opening, closing down to f/22. The diagonal angle of view is 94 degrees, and the front element carries a fluorine coating.

Autofocus and handling

Panasonic describes the focusing as fast, precise and silent, and says focus breathing is suppressed for video. There is a customizable Lens Fn button and a focus ring that can be used as a control ring. The minimum focus distance is 0.18 m, with a maximum magnification of 0.15x. The lens has no stabilizer, so stabilization relies on the camera body.

Build and size

The lens weighs about 142 g, measures 69.4 mm in diameter and 40.9 mm in length, and takes 62 mm filters. Panasonic lists a dust-resistant, splash-resistant and freeze-resistant design. Only the front and rear caps are supplied.
