Overview
The Thypoch Ksana 35mm F2 ASPH is a manual-focus full-frame prime for Leica M mount. Thypoch launched it on 21 May 2026 as the second lens in the Ksana series, after the 21mm F3.5. It combines a 35mm field of view with an F2 aperture in a solid brass body.
Optical design
The construction has 8 elements in 5 groups, according to the specification table. Thypoch lists 1 aspherical element, 1 ED element and 2 high-refractive-index elements. The coating is called Epoch Coating 84 and is described as reimagining the coating look of the 1980s, with gold and purple flares. The aperture has 10 blades and runs from F2 to F16. The minimum focusing distance is 0.5 m. The angle of view is 63 degrees diagonally, 54 degrees horizontally and 38 degrees vertically with an image circle of 43.2 mm.
Focusing and handling
Focusing is manual. A crescent tab allows smooth focusing, and the focus ring has a tactile detent at 0.7 m, as on the other Thypoch lenses for rangefinders. A lens hood is listed as an accessory. The page does not describe the aperture ring in detail.
Build and size
The body is solid brass with glass lenses. Weight is 198.6 g, and the length is 27 mm from flange to front. The front diameter is 42 mm and the filter thread is E39, the same as on the Ksana 21mm.
Where it fits
In the Leica M segment of the database, 35mm alternatives include the Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH, the Leica APO-Summicron-M 35mm F2 ASPH, the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm f/2.0 and the Leica Summarit-M 35mm F2.4 ASPH. For a faster Thypoch option, the Simera 35mm F1.4 offers one stop more light at 272 g with a 0.45 m minimum distance. Compared with the Simera, the Ksana trades aperture for a 27 mm height and a vintage-style coating.
Pros and cons
Pros
