Overview
The Brightin Star MF 10mm F5.6 PRO is a very slim manual focus fisheye for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds cameras. It is offered for Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF (RF-S), Fujifilm X and Micro Four Thirds, and Brightin Star announced it in September 2025. It is built like a pancake lens, only about 20 mm long, and it has a 175 degree angle of view.
Optical design
The manufacturer manual lists 6 elements in 5 groups, a diagonal angle of view of 175 degrees and an aperture range of F5.6 to F22. The diaphragm has 5 blades according to the manual. The closest focusing distance is 0.2 m. The lens has no filter thread. Brightin Star describes a stepped aperture and a hyperfocal focusing system for zone focusing.
Focusing and handling
Focusing is manual, with a focus lever instead of a conventional ring. Brightin Star markets the hyperfocal system for quick zone focusing. There are no electronic contacts, so the camera shows no aperture value. With such a short focal length and an f/5.6 maximum aperture, depth of field is generous even at close range, so exact focusing is less critical than on a faster lens.
Build and size
The lens measures 53 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length and weighs 100 g. It has a compact metal body with a retro mechanical design. With this size the lens is easy to leave on a small body, and it suits travel and street work.
Where it fits
Fisheyes in the database include the 7artisans Photoelectric 9mm f/5.6 for full frame, the Samyang / Rokinon 8mm F2.8 UMC Fisheye II for E, X and EF-M, the Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm F3.5 for Micro Four Thirds and the Fujifilm XF 8mm F3.5 R WR for X. The Brightin Star is much smaller and lighter than these, but also slower. Within the brand there is also a 10mm F5.6 II with a different design.
Pros and cons
Pros
- About 20 mm long and 100 g
- 175 degree diagonal angle of view

- Five mounts including Micro Four Thirds
Cons
- Manual focus only
- Maximum aperture of only F5.6
- No filter thread
- 5 blade diaphragm
- Designed for APS-C, not a full frame lens
Verdict
The MF 10mm F5.6 PRO is a tiny, light fisheye for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds users who want an extreme wide view without carrying a large lens. It suits travel, action and creative street work in good light, but less so in dim conditions.
