Overview
The Vistilen AF 33mm F1.4 is an autofocus prime for APS-C cameras with Canon RF mount. Vistilen calls the mount EFR and lists Canon EOS R bodies as compatible. On APS-C the 33mm focal length corresponds to roughly 53mm on full frame, a normal perspective, and the F1.4 aperture makes it a fast standard lens for portraits, street scenes and low light. It appeared in a March 2026 leak of the brand's RF lineup and was listed in June 2026.
Optical design
According to Vistilen, the lens has 12 elements in 9 groups with one high-refractive-index element, one ED element and one ultra-high-refractive-index element, plus a double-sided multi-layer coating that is meant to suppress ghosting and flare. The diaphragm has 9 blades and closes to F16. The minimum focus distance is 0.4 m. On an APS-C body the horizontal angle of view is 39 degrees.
Autofocus and handling
An STM stepping motor drives the autofocus, and Vistilen states eye and face detection support. Vistilen also claims a zero focus breathing design for video, without measurements. The barrel carries a physical aperture ring with click stops, labeled from F1.4 to F16, and an AF/MF switch, which makes it better equipped than the other small APS-C lenses of the range.
Build and size
The filter thread is 55 mm. The lens is 66.5 mm in diameter and 84 mm long and weighs 314 g. That is about double the weight of the AF 25mm F1.7 and a bit more than the AF 55mm F1.4.
Where it fits
For a normal view on APS-C with Canon RF, the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary is the closest alternative with the same aperture, and the Canon RF 35mm F1.8 IS STM Macro adds a stabilizer and macro capability on a full-frame lens. Within Vistilen's range the 33mm F1.4 sits between the AF 25mm F1.7 and the portrait lenses AF 55mm F1.4 and AF 56mm F1.7.
